Statement
I am interested in the way we use our hands and our eyes. I am interested in how we see and I am interested in our relationship to industry. The work produced in recent years reveals this curiosity via the subject matter and through my unique work practices.

In 2000 I left my position as Senior Art Director at Sotheby’s where I designed marketing material, catalogs and exhibitions for sales of world renowned collections. After years of fine arts education, I felt compelled to explore a deeper and more personal creative path.

Finding the safety and familiarity working from a studio restrictive, I prefer situations that challenge my abilities and training. I purposely avoid the comforts of a known workspace and choose to work in live settings, almost always without the use of photography. The proliferation of digital devices in daily life has reinforced my preference for little or no mechanical aid between me and the work.

Working in this method often thrusts me into public settings. These circumstances offer a unique opportunity to examine the societal divides between artist and the public. I am fascinated that most people appear to be just as curious about how the art is created as by the final product itself. With this understanding I now incorporate and share the art making journey with those who host or witness my projects.
